Summersweet Design
Was founded by Erica Gormley on the belief that beautiful garden spaces can be both sustainable and accessible to all. Trained by the New York Botanical Garden in Sustainable Garden Design, we specialize in creating landscapes that seamlessly blend ecological balance, biodiversity, and aesthetic beauty.
Erica is deeply passionate about the New Jersey ecosystem, native plants, and wildlife. As a member of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey and a local speaker on sustainable gardening practices, she educates and inspires homeowners to transform their outdoor spaces into thriving ecosystems. She believes that supporting pollinators, reducing lawn areas, and using natural pest management doesn’t mean sacrificing beauty—some of the most breathtaking landscapes are those teeming with diverse plant life that attract and sustain native birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects.

“Summersweet”
Is the common name for a native New Jersey shrub that has a beautiful aromatic white blooms. Summersweet attracts and nourishes butterflies and bees alike. With our focus on designing lush landscapes for all, we find Summersweet to be the ideal “mascot”. The botanical name for Summersweet is Clethra alnifolia.
